Install & connect

Connecting takes about a minute: add the server URL to your client, then sign in with your Liminal account in the browser. No keys to copy, nothing to configure.
Add the server
Section titled “Add the server”Pick your client:
Run:
claude mcp add --transport http liminal https://api.liminal.cash/mcpThen start the sign-in flow:
/mcpClaude opens your browser to connect. When you’re done, check it:
claude mcp listYou should see liminal marked Connected.
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Click Add custom connector.
- Set the URL to
https://api.liminal.cash/mcp. Leave headers empty. - Save — Claude opens your browser to sign in.
Add Liminal to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{ "mcpServers": { "liminal": { "url": "https://api.liminal.cash/mcp" } }}Reopen Cursor’s MCP settings and sign in when prompted.
Add Liminal to .vscode/mcp.json:
{ "servers": { "liminal": { "type": "http", "url": "https://api.liminal.cash/mcp" } }}For a client without native remote-server support, use the mcp-remote
bridge:
npx mcp-remote https://api.liminal.cash/mcpSign in
Section titled “Sign in”The first time you connect, your client opens a browser window:
- Sign in with your Liminal email — one click if you’re already signed in on that browser.
- Choose what to allow: reading your account, using Nim’s memory, and/or taking actions (payments, trades, savings).
- That’s it — you’re connected. Your client remembers the connection.
Connect read-only
Section titled “Connect read-only”If you only want your assistant to look, not touch, grant just read access at the sign-in screen and leave actions unchecked. Your assistant can answer questions about your money but can’t draft any payments or trades. You can reconnect later and allow more.
Disconnect
Section titled “Disconnect”You’re always in control:
- Revoke access any time from the Liminal app — it stops working on the next request.
- Or remove the server from your client (e.g.
claude mcp remove liminal).
- Permissions & approvals — what each permission covers and how money moves only with your approval.
- What you can do — everything you can ask for.
